July SAE Spotlight

#SAEselfie was started by the Holton FFA to spread the word on the diversity of Supervised Agriculture Experience opportunities available to Agricultural Education students. Throughout the month of June, we had a variety of selfies submitted.  19 selfies were submitted in our first month.  These June entries were considered for our monthly SAE Spotlight that showcases the SAE's of three different FFA members that are out getting work done in their SAE's. The categories include:
"Most Liked" - The winner received the most likes combined on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
"Officers' Favorite" - This winning SAE is selected by the Holton FFA Officer team as a favorite from all of the submissions.
"Wildcat Award" - The Wildcat Spotlight award highlights one of our very own Holton High School students for the work they do in their SAE program.

"MOST LIKED" July SAE Spotlight - Josh Clark, Holton FFA, Kansas

July's winner of the "Most Likes" category is Joshua Clark with his Sheep Sheering SAE where he sheers show lambs for local 4H'ers. Joshua attends Holton High School and is currently a junior. His favorite part about his SAE is getting to be outside and see what the kids know about their lambs. He has learned that you need to take long even strokes in order to get the lamb sheered quickly and have it look good for the fair.

"OFFICERS' FAVORITE" July SAE Spotlight - Skyler Denio, Hoxie FFA, Kansas

The winner of "Officers' Favorite" is Skyler Denio. Skyler is a senior at Hoxie High School and her SAE is in Ag Placement at the Hoxie Veterinary Services as a vet assistant. She enjoys being able to watch/help with procedures and become more educated about veterinary science. She has learned how to interact with veterinarians, office staff, coworkers and customers in a professional manner to be able to provide effective and efficient services for the public.

"Wildcat Award" SAE Spotlight - Savannah Phillips, Holton FFA

This month's winner is Savannah Phillips with her Market Steer SAE. Savannah is a sophomore at Holton High School and enjoys working with and getting to know her steer, Little John. She has learned the importance of not rushing-- whatever you do. The animal needs time to get to know you must like you need time to get to know them.
