October SAE Spotlight!

"Most Likes": Jacquelyn Sporer- Oakley FFA, Kansas
The winner of the MOST LIKES category is Jacquelyn Sporer of the Oakley FFA Chapter located in Kansas. Her SAE is the management of her school farm. This job requires her to care for animals such as this goat pictured. After graduation she plans to attend Crave Beauty Academy in hopes of being an aesthetician. 



"Officers' Pick": Quinn Kennedy- Holton FFA, Kansas
The winner of the OFFICER'S PICK award is Quinn Kennedy from the Holton FFA Chapter in Kansas. Her SAE is in beef production with raising show steers as well as her family cattle operation. Her favorite part about her SAE is working her steers in preparation for the fair. She has learned a lot about the industry including how to administer shots, how to properly care for her animals and the importance of keeping good records.




"Wildcat Award": Kyler Tannahill- Holton FFA, Kansas
The winner of the WILDCAT AWARD is Kyler Tannahill. Kyle is a junior at Holton High School and is a member of the Holton FFA Chapter located in Kansas. His SAE is working for Montgomery Fencing. At his job, he learns about the most efficient ways to build fencing to maximize productivity. His favorite part about his job is getting to build cattle fences for various farmers and ranchers.

September SAE Spotlight

August/September SAE Spotlight!

"Most Likes": Grace Luebcke- Marysville FFA, Kansas
The member that will be receiving the Most Likes Award is Grace Luebcke. Her SAE she says is "Literally the GOAT" as it is in goat production. She started her operation at the age of seven with a single doe that she raised as a 4H project. Today her SAE involves 10 does. Grace has learned how to feed and manage my goats as well as control and prevent parasites and assist with dystocia births. Her favorite part of her SAE is when Spring time comes around and her kids are born. She enjoys having visitors come to see them and learn about goats.



"Officer's Pick": Karl Wilhelm- Holton FFA, Kansas
Karl Wilhelm is being named as the winner of the Officer's Pick category. He is currently attending Kansas State University, majoring in Agribusiness Management. Karl's involvement in FFA includes Chapter Reporter, Chapter Vice President and State President. His SAE is in placement with the Kansas Department of Agriculture, located in Manhattan, Kansas. Karl aids in issuing food cases and having a better understanding of agriculture policies. After the completion of his term as Kansas State FFA President, he applied for an internship at KDA and received a position in the legal department. Through his SAE, he has a better understanding of regulations in regards to Animal Health, Dairy and Food Safety. His favorite part is the amount of professional experience he has gained. He continues to learn lessons and skills that he will use throughout his career choice. 



"Wildcat Award": Alexandra Myers- Holton FFA, Kansas
The winner of the Wildcat Award is Alexandra Myers. Alex is a senior at Holton High School and started her Small Animal Care SAE because is goes hand in hand with her desired career path. Her favorite part about her SAE is handling and learning about all the different animals she has. Her "pets" include a praying mantis, a hedgehog, rat, tortoise, blue tongue skink, soft-shell turtle, cats and dogs. After graduation Alex plans to attend a college in North Carolina and study Wildlife Biology and Rehabilitation in hopes to someday be an Animal Rehabilitator.

July SAE Spotlight

#SAEselfie was started by the Holton FFA to spread the word on the diversity of Supervised Agriculture Experience opportunities available to Agricultural Education students. Throughout the month of June, we had a variety of selfies submitted.  19 selfies were submitted in our first month.  These June entries were considered for our monthly SAE Spotlight that showcases the SAE's of three different FFA members that are out getting work done in their SAE's. The categories include:
 "Most Liked" - The winner received the most likes combined on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
"Officers' Favorite" - This winning SAE is selected by the Holton FFA Officer team as a favorite from all of the submissions.
"Wildcat Award" - The Wildcat Spotlight award highlights one of our very own Holton High School students for the work they do in their SAE program.


"MOST LIKED" July SAE Spotlight - Josh Clark, Holton FFA, Kansas

July's winner of the "Most Likes" category is Joshua Clark with his Sheep Sheering SAE where he sheers show lambs for local 4H'ers. Joshua attends Holton High School and is currently a junior. His favorite part about his SAE is getting to be outside and see what the kids know about their lambs. He has learned that you need to take long even strokes in order to get the lamb sheered quickly and have it look good for the fair.


"OFFICERS' FAVORITE" July SAE Spotlight - Skyler Denio, Hoxie FFA, Kansas

The winner of "Officers' Favorite" is Skyler Denio. Skyler is a senior at Hoxie High School and her SAE is in Ag Placement at the Hoxie Veterinary Services as a vet assistant. She enjoys being able to watch/help with procedures and become more educated about veterinary science. She has learned how to interact with veterinarians, office staff, coworkers and customers in a professional manner to be able to provide effective and efficient services for the public.


"Wildcat Award" SAE Spotlight - Savannah Phillips, Holton FFA

This month's winner is Savannah Phillips with her Market Steer SAE. Savannah is a sophomore at Holton High School and enjoys working with and getting to know her steer, Little John. She has learned the importance of not rushing-- whatever you do. The animal needs time to get to know you must like you need time to get to know them.
